If you want to get creative with pasta...
Here is a recipe for 3 cheese spinach tortellini (stuffed pasta) from food blogger Life As A Strawberry which I made the other day. Easy to follow instructions and super tasty end result.
Anyway, I'm just going to post a bunch of pictures with some helpful tips and tricks which hopefully will inspire you to try this out because it tasted amazing!
You do need to have a pasta roller though, or similar attachment for your mixer (we've got an attachment for our KitchenAid).
WARNING: you must like cheese!!! |
This is what your pasta should look like when it's rolled out. Nice and smooth with no holes in it. This pasta took a few goes to get smooth so have patience.
Between shaping and cooking, place the tortellini's onto a well floured baking tray. Make sure they aren't touching each other or else they'll stick and cook in clumps. Also, when you go to cook the pasta, drop the tortellini in one at a time to avoid clumping.
Spinach Pasta
For plain spinach pasta which can be made into spaghetti, fettuccine or whatever kind of pasta you'd like, try this base recipe.
Between shaping the pasta and cooking it, I hang mine on a clothes horse and separate the strands so they don't stick together. This is important or else you'll end up with clumpy pasta which will cook unevenly.
I paired mine with a simple tomato sauce (from a jar - gasp!) and some parmesan cheese, the best cheese pairing for pasta.
Good luck with the cooking adventure.
Until next time.
